Qld: Pay rises for some Queensland workers
BRISBANE, Aug 8 AAP - Around 400,000 Queensland workers were today awarded pay rises
of $15 a week.
The decision, by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, mainly affected those
workers not covered by enterprise bargaining adjustment or over-award payments, The Queensland
Council of Unions (QCU) said.
The QCU said the rise would primarily affect non-unionised industry sectors, including
large numbers of women working in the service sector and areas where there was a substantial
number of casual and part-time workers.
The pay rises would take effect from September 1, the QCU said.
