NSW: Watchdog recommends planning fee changes

People buying or selling a property in New South Wales could save $60 under changes
recommended by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

The tribunal's recommended a flat $40 fee for the planning certificates usually exchanged
when a proerty changes hands.

Currently only standard certificates cost $40 while advanced certificates with additional
information cost $100.

But the tribunal's also recommended local council's increase their charges for building
certificates from $50 to $70.

It also says a standard $10 fee should be charged for registering development applications.

The proposals will now be considered by state Planning Minister CRAIG KNOWLES.
