Fed: Pak authorities reject two boats of Aust wheat
Pakistan authorities have rejected two boatloads of Australian wheat claiming they
carry a dangerous fungus.
The nation's monopoly wheat exporter, AWB, says Pakistan authorities are claiming the
two shipments are contaminated with karnal bunt.
The fungus imparts a fishy odour to contaminated wheat and does not exist in Australia.
Manager of AWB pools, DAVID JOHNSON, says AWB and Biosecurity Australia authorities
are heading to Pakistan to discuss the issue.
