Do-re-mi or "Doh!" . . .

"Vitus," opening today at AMC Shirlington and AMC Dupont, is thecharming and entertaining story of an extraordinary Swiss pianistdealing with an overprotective mother, his father's unsettled careerand the uncertainty of what he wants to do with his life -- allbefore he turns 13. This PG-rated film is best for viewers 12 andolder: Most of the dialogue is Swiss German, so you'll be readingEnglish captions for two hours. But it's worth the effort.

"The Simpsons Movie," playing everywhere, also features atroubled family. But this is just for laughs -- with more than ahundred gems packed into 90 minutes. …
